Reba's story
My name is Reba. I am a purebred Australian Cattle Dog, or a Heeler as some people call us. We Heelers are known for our intelligence and loyalty to our people, and I am no different. At 2 years old, I am out of the puppy phase, so you don't have to worry about potty training or chewing or any of those shenanigans with me. Heelers are also known for their endless energy and herding habits, but I don't quite fit this part of the description. I am a bit more relaxed than the typical herding dog, but I am just as attentive to my surroundings and every once in a while, I get a burst of energy and love to use that time to play with my foster siblings.
I try to be the best girl I can be and I think I must be doing a pretty good job because the humans call be "sweetie" or "good girl" a lot. My foster parents think that I am affectionate, sweet, obedient, and intelligent. I like to show them that I am thankful for all they have done for me by spending time with them, especially on the couch. I know some basic obedience, am crate trained, I know outside is the place to go potty, and I can get myself out there all by myself using a dog door. I really like playing with my canine foster siblings both big and small, and I don't mind the cat that lives here, either. I am not around children regularly, but I think I would like them very much as long as they didn't scream all of the time or pull my ears.
I found my way into rescue in early November after my previous owner left me outside with the chickens. I just couldn't help it... they were right there, I was hungry, and they were such a tasty treat. You probably eat chicken too, right? I didn't know that what I did was bad, but it was bad enough that I had to leave what I thought was my home and never return. I then found myself at a breeding facility, where I ended up having a litter of puppies. This is not the life I wanted, and I was lucky enough to catch a ride to a foster home when some of the breeder's other dogs went to Is Today My Day Rescue. All of those other dogs have found forever homes. All of them but me. I hope I find a perfect home soon and promise that I will do my best to be the best companion I can be. My adoption fee is $250, but that is a small price to pay for a lifetime friend.
If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an adoption application at istodaymydayrescue.org. This lets my foster parents know that you might want to meet me to see if I am a good fit for your family. I hope you consider filling one out!
If you have any questions about me, please email the rescue directly at dogs@istodaymydayrescue.org. The humans reply quickly! If you've submitted an application for me, you will be contacted by its adoption team within 24 hours of receipt of your application.
